Do you feel trapped in a job that you’re unhappy with?

If you do, you’re not alone as there are many people around the world in the same situation. In fact, in a global poll in 2019, it was uncovered that 85% of the world’s 1 billion full-time workers are unhappy in their jobs and that does not include any part-time workers.

There are a number of reasons for this unhappiness, whether it’s your:

  • Boss or manager who is not understanding or supportive and is pushing you all the time for unrealistic accomplishments, leaving you feeling unappreciated by someone you may not even like.
  • Colleagues, if you don’t like the people you work with and though it is true we won’t like everyone, there are some times people we just don’t get along with and considering the amount of time we have to spend with them, you may start to question why you stay.
  • The type of work we do, we sometimes find ourselves doing the same old job that does not inspire us, leaving us feeling like we’re not using our real talents and not making much of a difference, keeping you tied to the same old inflexible schedule.
  • Pay’s another reason people hate their jobs we would all like to earn more money, but many feel that they’re are overworked and underpaid for the job that they do.

These are just a few reasons, but either way, if you’re not happy in your job, this will have adverse effects on you, your family and your life.

Why people stay in jobs they are not happy with, feeling unsatisfied and unappreciated.

We all have responsibilities of some sort in our life, whether it is rent, mortgage, bills, they all need to be paid, which is why many people just stay in the job they hate, because they perceive a fear that if they make a change in their lives, it could potentially have a negative impact on them and their families.

Some people stay in a job because they fear making the wrong decision. That things will go bad if they take any risks or they will fail before they even get started, which could be due to limiting beliefs, even though they are unhappy and unsatisfied, they believe that staying is the best thing for them as they are safe in their comfort zone.

Others stay due to their perceived fear of the unknown and change, asking themselves negative questions and receiving the answers they want to expect from themselves, keeping themselves locked in chains, which is one of the biggest reasons people stay in their jobs unhappy.

There are many people who think they need to stay in their job they hate because they are not good enough to get another one. This can be for many reasons, but usually derives from their own perceptions and limiting beliefs about themselves. Like not doing well at school being told you’re lucky to have a job and it’s a stable income and you’re being paid what you’re worth.

It is only when we questioned these theories and beliefs that we’re able to see that we are worth so much more.

I’ve worked with many people over the last few years to face their fears and beliefs, allowing them to overcome the issues and to make positive changes in their lives, when they’ve been able to change their jobs and careers, with many starting their own businesses, which gives them the freedom they require.

The first step is to accept that you are not happy with your job and that realisation is not always easy.

Also, please feel free to contact me on any of them as I would love to hear your thoughts on if you’re unhappy with your job and if you have thought about changing it, but are not sure how to.

Thank you.
